Print Archive Department
Annually, the Book Chamber receives newspapers, journals, books, brochures, fine arts publications, maps, audio and video materials, calendars, and albums published within the territory of the Republic. These materials are accepted by the Print Archive Department for permanent preservation in the archival fund with the necessary bibliographic registration.
The holdings of the Print Archive Department increase every year. At present, the archive contains 4,485,707 copies of printed materials. The foundation of the archive dates back to 1937. Printed materials issued prior to this year were collected as a result of searches conducted by the staff of the Book Chamber.
In the storage and management of the collection, the Print Archive Department applies the system of interstate standards of the System of Standards on Information, Librarianship and Publishing (SIBID), including:
