Deputies of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nurtore Zhusup and Dinar Nuketayeva specially arrived at the National State Book Chamber of the Republic of Kazakhstan, who met with the staff of the book chamber. The senators got acquainted with the activities of the institution, the measures taken.

"In order for the Kazakh youth to be literate, cultured, along with social, it is necessary to pay attention to spiritual issues. In particular, it is necessary to address the issue of increasing the circulation of artistic works. If we clarify the outstanding issues, we will make efforts to fulfill them. If before that the sphere of culture was financed on the "residual principle", now it is not so. It is necessary to stop reprinting collections of the distant Soviet period and publish works by modern, popular authors in literature, especially children's literature. They should be given the opportunity, " said a well-known publicist, MP Nurtore Zhusup.

One of the functions of the book chamber is bibliographic and information processing. "Departments of the state bibliography (Kazakh and Russian)" process incoming publications. The issue of training competent bibliographers is most relevant for the book chamber. At the same time, Senator Dinar Zhusupalievna noted that in recent years, almost no state grants have been allocated to the Kazakh National Women's Pedagogical University-the only university that trains bibliographers. 

"Struggling with this issue, several rector's grants were allocated, the rest are forced to engage only in paid training," said Ms. Senator. He said that he is looking for solutions to this situation.

The deputies stressed that " the book chamber, together with publishing houses with the support of the Akimat of Almaty, in order to promote new books, we want to organize book exhibitions in the city squares — Arbat, in the open air in front of the Palace of the Republic, in the foyer of the Auezov Theater in the sun."  

The head of the book chamber spoke about the state of the domestic book market, the promotion of our authors, topical issues of book publishing, such as copyright. Adil Kazenbaevich also spoke about the state of the archive, which contains about 5 million printed publications, about the problems that have not yet been solved in relation to the building of the institution.

In 2020, on the eve of Independence Day, the" museum of rare books and publications " was opened in the Book Chamber. It contains the works of the Alash intelligentsia, exhibits with a centuries-old history. The deputies got acquainted with these works.

Since 2021, according to the amendments and additions to the law" On Culture", the admission and preliminary selection of works under the state program" publication and distribution of socially significant literature " is entrusted to the Book Chamber. The senators also got acquainted with the progress of this event.

The senators stressed that the book chamber is a scientific, bibliographic, information center that performs a very important function for the state and the nation, collecting, systematizing and preserving the spiritual heritage of the nation and taking part in solving the problems of the book market. The people's deputies expressed their gratitude that the book chamber, despite the pandemic situation, holds competitions and seminars in an online format and considers all possible ways to activate the domestic book market. The leadership of the book chamber highly appreciated the implemented Smart Qalamger project, a joint project with the newspaper "Kazakh Adebieti" "Asyl Soz", which allows posting electronic versions of the works of writers of the country.
